I have been an active community volunteer in Denton County organizations for the past ten years. My primary focus is on helping the underserved community. I’ve served on the board of a community housing development organization, as well as served as chair of the local homeless coalition. I’m currently on the leadership team of the United Way of Denton County’s Women United group and the co-chair of that group’s childhood literacy initiative. Through the latter, I’ve helped recruit volunteers to read to children in elementary schools and childcare centers across the county. I am Professor Emerita at the University of North Texas, where I served 20 years as a faculty member including 12 years as department chair. I have budget and funding experience in public higher education, and I am familiar with the guidelines and compliance requirements of government and public funding. I am interested in serving on a board of directors of an organization in the education or human services sector.
