Seasoned Human Resources Manager with a proven track record of successfully operating in the transportation/railroad sector. I began my career with BNSF Railway as a Management Trainee for the Transportation Department in January of 2006, and by June of the same year, I was promoted to a Frontline Supervisor managing Union Employees. Over the past 12 years I’ve served as an Operations Manager in various locations and, spent the last 6 years in the Human Resources Department. My terminal operations experience in several roles has equipped me with the necessary skills for success in operations, logistics, and supply-chain environments. I’ve built strong working relationships, managed budgets across three states, and gained a working knowledge of train operations.
In my roles in the HR Department, I have honed my presentation skills, preparing and presenting at various events nationwide. I’ve gained expertise in investigation, talent acquisition/recruiting, employee engagement, talent development, coaching, and mentoring. My diverse employment background has required me to be professional, organized, and detail-oriented while handling confidential information. Successful multitasking has developed my ability to adapt quickly and think on my feet. I am receptive to change, enjoy acquiring new skills, and am known for my positive team spirit and self-starter.
With my professional background as a board member, I aim to achieve the following objectives:
- Governance and Compliance:
- Ensure the organization operates in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Review and update governance policies to reflect best practices and changes in laws.
- Strategic Planning:
- Participate in the development and review of the organization’s strategic plan.
- Provide insights and perspectives on long-term goals and initiatives.
- Financial Oversight:
- Review and approve the annual budget, ensuring it aligns with the organization’s strategic goals.
- Monitor financial performance, including regular review of financial statements.
- Risk Management:
- Identify and assess potential risks to the organization and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Review risk management policies.
- Fundraising and Resource Development:
- Contribute to fundraising efforts by leveraging personal networks, and making personal donations.
- Advocacy and Public Relations:
- Advocate for the organization within the community and with relevant stakeholders.
- Assist in building and maintaining positive relationships with key partners, donors, and the public.
- Board Development and Succession Planning:
- Participate in board orientation and ongoing education.
- Contribute to the identification and development of potential future board members.
- Performance Evaluation:
- Participate in the evaluation of the organization’s CEO or executive director.
- Regularly assess the performance of the board as a whole and individual board members.
- Monitoring and Evaluation:
- Regularly review key performance indicators to measure organizational success.
- Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of programs and initiatives.
- Community Engagement:
- Represent the organization positively in the community.
