Dr. Doraica Aponte, a dedicated veterinary professional with a passion for animal welfare, currently serves as the Global Scientific Communications Content Manager at Royal Canin. Originally from Puerto Rico, she boasts a diverse background that uniquely blends veterinary medicine, marine biology, and environmental conservation.
Dr. Aponte earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Puerto Rico, followed by a degree in Veterinary Science from the University of Sydney. Her early career saw her venturing into marine biology, where she focused on coral reef restoration projects, contributing significantly to the preservation of marine ecosystems in Puerto Rico. This experience deepened her understanding of animal health from both land and marine perspectives, fostering her commitment to science and conservation.
With over ten years of experience in veterinary medicine, Dr. Aponte joined Royal Canin in 2015. Since then, she has held multiple key positions in which she developed robust educational programs and fostered relationships with veterinary schools and specialty hospitals throughout the Southeast United States. Her clinical expertise spans primary care, small and large animal medicine, client education, emergency medicine, and nutrition.
As the Global Scientific Communications Content Manager, she is part of a dynamic team in charge of creating and disseminating scientific content. Her work focuses on advancing knowledge in pet health and nutrition and aiming to position Royal Canin as a trusted resource for veterinarians and pet owners alike while also enhancing brand visibility.
