What is BoardBuild?

BoardBuild is an online platform designed to mobilize emerging and established leaders who want to broaden and develop their community trusteeship as board members of non-profit organizations.

Really?  How?

BoardBuild has two basic parts:

  1. Online, on-demand training in the essentials of nonprofit board governance.
  2. Online board matching between trained community leaders and nonprofit organizations seeking new board members.

This sounds great, but what does the program really look like?

The online training has six modules.  Each one addresses a topic a brand new nonprofit board member needs to know.  You’ll learn about what a board does, the importance of the bylaws, financial responsibilities, board meetings, and much, much more.  Each module will take about 20 to 30 minutes.

I’m interested!  But how do I get on a board after I get up to speed?

This is where BoardBuild’s matching program comes in.  Think Match.com.

  • Nonprofits seeking qualified board members will post listings on BoardBuild.
  • You’ll fill out a profile listing your experties and interests.
  • The program automatically matches you with nonprofits looking for someone like you.

Training in the essentials of board governance, or proof of knowledge through successful completion of a placement exam, is required to enroll in the BoardBuild match system.

It’s really simple!  And it’s a win-win all around:  for you as a qualified board member, for nonprofits, and for our community as a whole.

Now I’m really interested.  I heard there was a FREE intoductory module.  I’d like to learn more.

We are excited to launch BoardBuild on July 1. In the meantime, join our mailing list below so we can keep you up to date on the latest news.
